Living my Truths

My mom used to tell me a story about bumble bees. You see, bumble bees have a large body with very small wings. Their tiny wings, scientifically speaking, shouldn’t be able to support their body and allow them to fly, but the bumble bee doesn’t know that, and flies anyway…

After the dumpster fire that was 2020, I think we can all agree that the bumble bee is quite the role model. Ignoring the haters and continuing on its way, reaching new heights. In 2021, I intend on using this story, to reshape how I handle the roadblocks that life inevitably throws out.

So here I am, starting this blog to share my journey through life with each of you and inspire you to live your truths.

First, allow me to introduce myself! I am Kayla. I married my very best friend, PJ, and we have two sweet kiddos, A (age 5) and L (age 2). We live in the Florida panhandle, where I have been almost my entire life. Somehow, I caught the eye of my northern husband and convinced him to uproot his entire life and move here to start our life together. We have been married a little over 6 years, so I suppose he thinks it was a good idea.

I am an optimistic, emotional, headstrong gal and I wear my heart on my sleeve. Many of my truths, the undeniable qualities about myself, are the very things I have struggled with in my life. Yet, I now realize those very qualities, are the fundamentals of who I am, and cannot be changed just because someone else doesn’t like me.

Such a strange concept right? Altering yourself simply because a handful of people have decided you’re weird or different. Well I say, EMBRACE THE WEIRD. In 2021, I will no longer darken myself to appease others. I am taking those qualities about myself that others have poked fun at and USING THEM.

Know-it-all? Sure, I have a thirst for knowledge and love teaching other people. Bossy? You bet, I have a passion for leading. Laughs at my own jokes? Well DUH.

Such a strange concept right? Altering yourself simply because a handful of people have decided you’re weird or different. Well I say, EMBRACE THE WEIRD.

As I approach my 30th birthday, I’m starting to realize my happiness is more important than someone else’s opinion of me. I owe it to my family to be the happiest version of myself and that means being myself.

So this year, I will go after what makes me happy, goals I never really thought were possible, and build the life I want. For us, that means building a house, growing my hobby to a real business, and finding peace at home.

I hope this blog inspires you to live your truths, to be yourself unapologetically, to take the world by storm and stop second guessing yourself.

Tell me one quality about yourself that you are going to embrace this year in the comments below!
